Antonio Galloni was the lead critic of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate before starting his own publication in 2013. Robert Parker had intended on handing the reigns to Antonio Galloni when The Advocate sold in 2012, but Galloni had his own plans and started his own competing publication instead. Galloni has recruited some of the most respected personalities in the wine industry, and a 90+ score from Vinous has become synonymous with quality.

Antonio Galloni tasted through our 2021 vintage releases from the Santa Lucia Highlands and the wines had universal acclaim. We are humbled to report that all of our wines were among the top rated from the appellation and our 2021 Niclaire Pinot Noir tied for the highest rated Pinot Noir alongside the Pisoni Estate.

2021 Niclaire Pinot Noir
California AVA

“The 2021 Pinot Noir Niclaire is a selection of the best barrels in the cellar. Sleek and polished to the core, the 2021 is quite impressive. Soft, plush contours wrap around succulent black cherry, dried herbs, lavender, menthol, spice and mocha. A kick of blood orange livens up the finish. Naturally, the Niclaire is not a wine of site, but it is undeniably beautiful.” Antonio Galloni

2021 Rosella’s Vineyard Pinot Noir
Santa Lucia Highlands AVA

“The 2021 Pinot Noir Rosella’s Vineyard is creamy, rich and enveloping. Soft, silky tannins wrap around a core of dark red/purplish fruit, blood orange and pomegranate. 2021 Sierra Mar Vineyard Pinot Noir
Santa Lucia Highlands AVA

“The 2021 Pinot Noir Sierra Mar Vineyard is gorgeous. Ripe red cherry fruit, spice, blood orange and cedar lend notable aromatic brightness. Winemaker Bill Brosseau crafted a Pinot that offers tons of nuance while keeping the natural power of this site in check. There’s a bit of new oak sweetness here, but otherwise, the Sierra Mar is quite fine. Here, too, the finish is wonderfully persistent.” Antonio Galloni

2021 Fogstone Vineyard Chardonnay
Santa Lucia Highlands AVA

“The 2021 Chardonnay Fogstone Vineyard is a potent, tightly wound wine. Mineral and savory notes abound, while fruit is pushed into the background. A wine of subtlety and nuance more than fruit, the Fogstone is super-expressive and full of character. Bright saline notes explode through the finish. This is impressive. ” Antonio Galloni

2021 Tondré Grapefield Chardonnay
Santa Lucia Highlands AVA

“The 2021 Chardonnay Tondré Grapefield is a wine of real density and power. Apricots, pears, white flowers and citrus oil fill out the layers. Its mid-palate richness and intensity distinguish the 2021. There’s more than enough brightness and overall verve to balance some slightly more overt leanings here.” Antonio Galloni

2021 Doctor’s Vineyard Pinot Noir
Santa Lucia Highlands AVA

“The 2021 Pinot Noir Doctor’s Vineyard is one of this range’s more forward, fruit-driven wines. At the same time, bright acids and veins of tannin cut through, lending notable precision and tension throughout. Medium in body, the Doctor’s is wonderfully nuanced from start to finish. Sweet dark cherry, mocha, spice and a kiss of new oak linger. This site, planted with ten clones of Pinot at elevation, yields a wine of real character.” Antonio Galloni

2021 Fogstone Vineyard Pinot Noir
Santa Lucia Highlands AVA

” The 2021 Pinot Noir Fogstone Vineyard is one of the more ethereal, lifted wines in this range, although its understated depth does begin to emerge with aeration. Crushed flowers, spice, new leather, tobacco and mocha all meld nicely, framed by bright acids and silky tannins that wrap it all together. This soft, classy Pinot is a real charmer. ” Antonio Galloni

2021 Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir
Santa Lucia Highlands AVA

” The 2021 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard is a fairly savory, earthy wine for a site that tends to show the more potent side of the Santa Lucia Highlands. Dried herbs, flowers, cedar, tobacco and licorice are pushed forward while the primary fruit rests in the background. The Pisoni is a fine choice for readers who enjoy powerful, savory California Pinots, even if it goes somewhat against the archetype of this site. The long, sustained finish is quite striking.” Antonio Galloni

2021 Soberanes Vineyard Pinot Noir
Santa Lucia Highlands AVA

“The 2021 Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard is wonderfully complex and dynamic in the glass. Dried herbs, lavender, mocha, plum and macerated cherry fruit build nicely. Medium in body and enjoyably layered, with fine balance, the Soberanes has plenty to offer. Bright, vibrant acids linger effortlessly. The ethereal finish is just sublime. ” Antonio Galloni

2021 Tondré Grapefield Pinot Noir
Santa Lucia Highlands AVA

“The 2021 Pinot Noir Tondré Grapefield is gorgeous. Dark cherry/plum fruit, cloves, licorice, menthol, lavender and mocha convey dark, brooding intensity. That feeling is amplified by the wine’s substantial palate presence and overall textural breadth. The 2021 is beautifully rendered.” Antonio Galloni
