The Pinot Noir Barrel Sampling Results are in!

In July, we hosted our 4th Annual Pinot Noir Barrel Sampling for Club Members. Our attendees tasted through the 2007 vintage, complimented by a tour through our cellars led by our winemaker, Bill Brosseau. 
As in the past, this was a very popular event, and after tallying the surveys, we’ve found that our members agree that the 2007 vintage is characterized by developed and concentrated flavors coupled with great complexity and density. These attractive qualities are largely due to low crop yields and moderate growing conditions. Given the cold winter in 2007, the onset of budbreak and flowering was delayed by one to two weeks. In addition, the winter and spring were fairly dry, with about half the usual rainfall, so berries were small and the cluster weights were low.  Ultimately, it’s clear that the 2007 vintage is already prized and very limited!
The members who attended this event had the opportunity to try all 11 of our single-vineyard Pinot Noirs. Club Members then ranked their favorites. Here are the Pinot Noirs that were ranked highest:

First Place: 2007 Rosella’s Vineyard Pinot Noir
Second Place: 2007 Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir
Third Place: 2007 Garys’ Vineyard Pinot Noir
Fourth Place: 2007 Sleepy Hollow Vineyard Pinot Noir
Fifth Place: 2007 La Cruz Vineyard Pinot Noir
