All Bottled Up! You’ve always been able to hear that glorious POP of wine bottles being uncorked at Testarossa Winery. Now, if you listen very, very closely, you just might hear the sound of corks being put in bottles at Testarossa! Some of you may have heard that we recently installed a brand-new, state of the art bottling line at Testarossa Winery—now is your chance to see it. We will be unveiling this marvelous example of Italian engineering at our 2009 Harvest Festival. With its speed, shine, and sleek curves, our new bottling line reminds us of another Italian import, but this one isn’t parked in our garage. We completely over-hauled one of our temperature-controlled cellars to house the line by installing a gleaming white epoxy floor, brilliant over-head lighting as well as adding a fresh coat of paint to the room. Our extraordinary product is now bottled in optimum conditions, and just as it is in our cellars, every milliliter is monitored closely by our highly talented winemaking team. What does this mean? Testarossa wine has always been fantastic, but it is only getting better! |

Exclusive Club Testarossa Food and Wine Contest We make an effort to give our valued members resources to develop their culinary talent and incorporate wine into their gastronomic adventures! We have an extensive collection of recipes online, all of which have been created exclusively for our wines and other Testarossa gourmet foods. In celebration of the release of our 2007 Rosella’s Vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, we held our first food and wine contest. We asked Club Testarossa Members to send us an original recipe that was paired with these wines. Many wonderfully tasty recipes were submitted and after much thought, our winners were: Rod Bagg, member since 2005 Our winners received three bottles each of our 2007 Rosella’s Vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and two complimentary tickets to our Harvest Dinner on November 13th! CONGRATULATIONS! |

Dahlia by Rob Jensen, Testarossa Proprietor Everyone who visits our winery, the historic Novitiate of Los Gatos, always leaves impressed by the sheer size of the building. Testarossa only makes 13,000 to 14,000 cases per year of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah. Thus, first time visitors are expecting a much more modest estate. However, our winery is far from typical. In the late 19th century, the Jesuits were making less than 20,000 cases at the Novitiate Winery annually. They expanded the winery many times until reaching an annual capacity of nearly 100,000 cases in the 1950s. Consequently, Testarossa’s production of less than 15,000 cases per year leaves us with a lot of empty space and several empty or partially used cellars. To take advantage of all the available space, we have been making wine for and/or leasing space to four other local wineries: Fleming-Jenkins, Black Ridge, Cinnabar and Kathryn Kennedy. (Long time Testarossa fans will recall that we ironically started as a custom crush client at Cinnabar in the early 1990s.) The revenue generated from these other fine brands allows us to increase our investment in new equipment and accelerate the constant process of modernizing our historic 19th century winery. Our goal is always to make better and better wine each year! To further diversify and strengthen Testarossa for the future, we recently entered into a long term contract with California based Beverages and More (aka BevMo!). We are taking over the production of their successful Dahlia line which consists of Monterey County Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. During early discussions and tastings, Wilfred Wong, BevMo!’s Cellarmaster, exclaimed that the quality of our samples were so impressive that he decided to add a Dahlia Reserve Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to the line up. BevMo! launches the Dahlia line this Fall. |
