Originally planted in 1997, the Tondre Grapefield is growing in popularity and recognition as well. Testarossa Winery has been making Tondre Grapefield Pinot Noir since 2012 and 2014 was the first vintage for Testarossa’s Tondre Grapefield Chardonnay. Tondre is located directly in the center of the Santa Lucia Highlands just to the south of Soberanes and Garys’ Vineyards. Joe Alarid and his team hand-care for each vine where they have multiple clones planted within the 80 acres of Pinot Noir and 21 acres of Chardonnay.
Winemaker Tasting Notes
"Pale yellow hue. Bright aromas of pear, apple chutney, and fig followed by fresh notes of watermelon, melon, honeysuckle, and grapefruit. These elements segue to the palate seamlessly. The acidity, while present, is tamed by dense, and unctuous concentration. As this Chardonnay lingers, it exhibits smooth, silky, and seductive qualities. Enjoy this hedonistic wine from now through 2024." ~Director of Winemaking Bill Brosseau
