2016 Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay

Located on the inland side of the coastal Santa Cruz Mountains Appellation, Black Ridge Vineyards produces Testarossa’s only Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay. The historic local vineyard located just off Black Road across from the Lexington Reservoir, is ideally situated to avoid the harsh coastal winds and fog that cover the majority of the appellation. The vineyard was originally planted in the mid 19th century, but replaced by prune trees during Prohibition and then a Christmas tree farm. In 1999, it was returned to its original roots with grapevines.

Testarossa Director of Winemaking Bill Brosseau oversees the management of the vineyard working closely with the vineyard staff that take great care in hand manicuring this one of a kind vineyard.

winemaker notes

"Pale straw color. Full aroma profile of apple, fig, mango, peach, as well as subtle notes of apricot and banana. These aromas are persistent on the palate and continue to expand with aeration. The texture is very pleasing with its plush, broad, and full dimension. This Chardonnay finishes strong with its smooth, bright, and lingering qualities. Enjoy now through 2026."

91 Points / Antonio Galloni's Vinous

Juicy and seamless on the palate, offering Meyer lemon, honeydew and toasted brioche flavors that are accented by a smoky mineral nuance. Shows very good delineation on the persistent finish, which leaves vibrant mineral and floral notes behind. Read more
