2016 Rosemary's Vineyard Pinot Noir

Owned by the Talley Family, who have farmed Southern San Luis Obispo County for three generations, the Rosemary's Vineyard dates back to 1982. Planted just 8 miles Northeast of the Pacific Ocean, the vineyard has soils that are reminiscent of Burgundy, in particularly the Côte de Nuits with its steep terrain, infusion of weathered rocks, and well drained soils. Working closely with the Talley Family, Testarossa owners, Rob and Diana Jensen, and Director of Winemaking Bill Brosseau, have created this very exceptional Pinot Noir with classic old world flavors.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby color. Lovely scents of jasmine, rose petal, anise, nutmeg, and cassis unite in this distinctive Pinot Noir. With some aeration, notes of boysenberry jam, sage, and violet round out the aroma profile. Upon taste, these characters persist and remain very fresh. Bright acidity is tamed nicely by juicy and silky tannins on the concentrated palate. As if the wine could not get any better, it finishes with polish, depth, and purity. This irresistible Pinot Noir should be enjoyed now through 2026.

93 Points / Antonio Galloni's Vinous

Bright-rimmed ruby. Complex, intensely perfumed aromas of spice-tinged dark berry and cherry liqueur and floral oils, with a smoky topnote and a hint of minerals. Silky and seamless in the mouth, showing a penetrating quality to the blackberry, cherry preserve and spicecake flavors. Finishes very long and floral, with smooth tannins and resonating spiciness.
