The Santa Rita Hills Appellation in Santa Barbara County is part of the larger Santa Ynez Valley AVA. It is basically located between the towns of Lompoc and Buellton with the Purisima Hills on the North, the Santa Rosa Hills on the South and the Santa Ynez River running right through the middle. The region is just about 10 miles away from the Pacific Ocean and Point Conception accounting for the daily fog and maritime breezes that cool down the vineyards. This provides the prolonged hang time and ideal growing conditions for world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The rocky soil and east/west hill configuration also make the unique area perfect for cool climate varietals.
Testarossa Winery partners with the La Encantada, La Rinconada and Sanford & Benedict Vineyards in the Santa Rita Hills Appellation.
"Brick red hue. Enchanting notes of anise, cranberry, ripe strawberries, cherry pie, boysenberry, and cloves unite in this multi-vineyard blend. The flavor profile is concentrated with notes of cherry, boysenberry, and cranberry. While the aromas and flavors have the focus of a single vineyard, the texture opens up with bright acidity and tannins that are dense, lush, and expansive. This wine finishes with minerality and smooth, suppleness. Enjoy now through 2022. "
