2014 Dos Rubios Vineyard Chardonnay

The closest that Testarossa has to an estate vineyard, Dos Rubios represents a partnership between two red heads: Testarossa Founder, Rob Jensen and Vineyard Grower, Kirk Williams. Director of Winemaking, Bill Brosseau has worked with Williams to design the vineyard from ground-up having planted it in 2008. Since that time, the quality keeps increasing and carries a unique character like many of our other single vineyards from the Santa Lucia Highlands.

Dos Rubios Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are two of four monopoles for Testarossa. This means that no other winery makes wines with these grapes and we receive 100% of the fruit. The other two monopoles are Guidotti and Fogstone Vineyard Pinot Noirs.

TASTING NOTES:

"Medium yellow hue. Scents of ripe fig, orange blossoms, apple pie, custard, nutmeg, and brioche unite in this refreshing wine. Vibrant flavors of fig, orange, and apple are precisely balanced on the palate and the zesty acidity diffuses the concentration of this Chardonnay from being too intense. The subtle use of French oak ensures an underlying silkiness and provides lasting hedonistic appeal. The finish is well structured, intricate, and distinctive. Enjoy now through 2024. "

ACCOLADES:

94 points, International Wine Review. "Sanford & Beneduct Vineyard is one of California’s finest historic vineyards. The Pinot Noir grapes from the vineyard are very pretty with aromas of dark red cherry perfume. This wine is soft and elegant on the palate, beautifully balanced, silky smooth with persistent bright acidity on the finish."
