Cuvee Los Gatos is a special wine made by Testarossa Winery to pay homage to the town of Los Gatos, where the historic winery was built in 1888 and continues to produce wine today.
For the Cuvée Los Gatos by Testarossa release, the grapes were sourced from the Santa Lucia Highlands in the Salinas Valley in Monterey County. For this bottling, Rob and Diana Jensen, and Director of Winemaking, Bill Brosseau, hand-selected and combined vineyard lots. In particular, a majority of the fruit came from vineyards in the northern end of this famous appellation - one of the country’s best-known regions for world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Highlands close proximity to Monterey Bay makes for a very cool climate, with one of California’s longest growing seasons. The resulting slow, gentle ripening allows for full flavor development on the vine.
Dark red color. Wonderful scents of orange blossom, red cherry, cranberry, pomegranate are paired nicely with subtle notes of raspberry, cloves and vanilla bean. Upon taste, these characters concentrate into cherry and citrus notes, showing incredible depth of terroir from this world class region. The careful use of French oak adds a nice dimension and a long, lingering finish. Enjoy now through 2020.
