This Chardonnay is our first effort from this exciting site in the Santa Rita Hills. Owned by the Terlato family, La Rinconada Vinyard has a Northwestern exposure and the soil consists of Bayshore silty and clay loam. Planted in 1997, the Chardonnay vines benefit from the cool climate of the Santa Rita Hills.
"Straw hue. There is a wonderful fusion of mango, pineapple, fig, and custard in the nose. This wine only gets more interesting in the palate with flavors of peach, ripe pineapple, and custard. The unctuous, dense mouth shows well the heavy clay soils from where this wine hails from. The cool climate qualities show nicely, not only in the tropical fruit aromas, but also the lively acidity in the palate. As the acidity winds down, this wine ends with a smooth and balanced texture. Drink now through 2020."
