Cuvee Los Gatos is a special wine made by Testarossa Winery to pay homage to the town of Los Gatos, where the historic winery was built in 1888 and continues to produce wine today.
Working closely wtih top growers around the state, Testarossa Winery has produced this limited release, supple and approachable Pinot Noir. The grapes were sourced from Monterey County. In particular, a majority of the fruit came from vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation - one of the state’s best known regions for world-class Pinot Noir. The Highlands close proximity to Monterey Bay makes for a very cool climate, with one of California’s longest growing seasons. The resulting slow, gentle ripening allows for full flavor development on the vine. Testarossa’s partnership with the top vineyards in the SLH insure only the highest quality fruit makes it to the winery.
The 2011 growing season in Monterey County was cooler than average. Due to this the harvest time was pushed back a few weeks and yields were a bit lower. Although there was rainfall during the season, the timing was such that crops did not suffer. There is plenty of richness from this smaller crop that will make for excellent wine.
"Medium red color. This Pinot Noir shows brilliant notes of red cherry, raspberry, strawberry and some oak spice. Upon taste, the fine grain tannins are interlaced well with moderate acidity, fruit flavors and smooth oak tannins."
